Jewelry, My Mom, & MS

I’m a jewelry minimalist. The simplicity is powerful. The power is in the unseen.

The rings are from places I’ve traveled around the world.

They remind me to embrace adventure.

The slender oval handmade botanical studs I love are casual and chic. The fern represents sincerity.

More than that, they’re from California. A place that reminds me of my grandparents, the ocean waves, and fish tacos by the pier.

The cross necklace on the right is a gift from my mom.

It reminds me to live. To take risks. To go places. To run miles. To pray. To hope. To smile.

What is unseen is the MS, the disease my mom has. The thing that has taken so much so quickly.

When I wear that cross necklace it’s not just about faith. It’s about taking my mom places she’s never been. It’s about remembering to live more fully and be in the moment. Then take those stories back to her.

Multiple Sclerosis wreaked havoc on my family. I have learned to not fear grief. I somehow sit with it almost daily.

Yet…

We keep living. We keep finding calm in my mom’s steady joy. We keep grounded with every smile she gives. We keep the faith each in our own way. we always keep living.

Do you know someone with an autoimmune disease?

If yes, get curious about the unseen obstacles they embrace every day.

Then soak up the joy, peace & energy they choose to share with you! That energy can wane quickly. What a gift to share in the small simple powerful moments with them.

Here’s to living more fully and appreciating the simple power in the unseen moments all around us.
